About Mulligan

Meet Mulligan! This handsome, 40-ish pound, 1.5 year old lab/pittie mix is ready to find his forever home! He is microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, neutered, and potty/crate trained. Mully was adopted from a local rescue organization about a year ago by a friend, but her life situation changed and she was no longer able to care for him. I offered to evaluate him for my service dog program where I train Diabetic Alert Service Dogs. After spending some time with us, it has become clear that he does not do well with smaller dogs, and therefore is being Career Changed from our program due to having several smaller dogs currently being trained at our facility - besides his incompatibility with smaller dogs, I believe he has the temperament to be trained as in-home service dog. Mulligan does well with dogs his size or larger, although he does have a rough play style so playmates with a similar play style would work best for Mully as well as supervision during playgroups. He walks well on leash with a front clip harness, and does great in the car. He's amazingly affectionate and giving kisses is his specialty! In his previous home he lived with, and did well with, a young child under 3, and three large bossy/dominant dogs. He did live with a dog savvy cat in his previous home, however, he did want to chase the cat in a playful way which the cat didn't appreciate. His house manners are nice, and curling up on the couch and cuddling with you in the evenings is one of his favorite things. In his previous home, he was crated while everyone was at work, so he has proven himself to hold it for long periods in the crate on a regular basis. Mulligan is VERY food motivated, so continuing to train with him would be a breeze. He is med-high energy and bonds heavily with his people so he would make a great companion.
