About Necahual

Chihuahua Age: approx 5 years Female, Spayed (6 lbs lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) We decided to give this little one an unusual name that also tells her story. Necahual is Aztec for 'left behind, survivor.' She was living in the bushes in the industrial part of San Leandro with 6 other Chihuahuas. It took animal control about a week to capture all of them. One was euthanized right away, and five others were euthanized by the shelter. The shelter staff felt they were unadoptable. That left Necahual by herself. She is very shy, but can be handled. She desperately wants to bond with another small dog (but the foster family's dog isn't interested). She is starting to seek attention from her foster mom. Necahual needs a home with another dog(s) her size that she can snuggle and bond with, as well as a quiet adult household that can give the time she needs to learn to trust people. At the shelter, during her spay surgery, they cleaned her teeth and extracted a few loose ones. Otherwise, she is healthy with no issues.
