About Gem

Gem is a cuddly, playful, fun and loving, 35-pound, 18-month-old female, chocolate and vanilla Boston Terrier/Pit Bull Terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian. Gem looks a bit like an overgrown Boston Terrier. She is a fun-loving girl who adores playing with her toys, playing fetch and working for her treats. But, she actually equally enjoys lazy days of cuddling and hanging out with her foster mom. She's extremely affectionate and a fantastic apartment dog. She knows the command sit and takes treats ever so gently from your fingers. She is extremely food-motivated which will make her a dream to train. She does have a high prey drive which means she's not good with cats or other small critters. She does have some canine friends but they tend to be larger than herself. She is selective about her dog friends. She adores people more than other animals and has been great with people age six and up! She hasn't met anyone younger than that yet. She does go right into her crate to play with her toys and eat her meals. But, as soon as you close the crate door, she starts to bark. Luckily she's perfectly housebroken so no crate needed. In the month that she's been in her foster home, she's only had one accident and that was on the first day. She's fantastic on car rides; she sits on the back seat like a good girl and doesn't move during the journey. And, she's fantastic on leash unless she sees a squirrel or bird! Gem is very healthy, spayed, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped, de-wormed, heartworm-tested and on monthly heartworm preventative.
