About Mishka

Children in home must be 12 years or older; no cats; dog play-style can be pushy; she is a spayed female about 1 year old. Hi, my name is Mishka; that means 'Gift of Love' and I certainly have plenty love to give. I have an adventurous spirit which probably contributed to my status as a stray dog and now I am looking for my new home. I am gorgeous and fun and friendly, but I am not for everyone. I need a family who is familiar with the idiosyncrasies of the husky breed. I am loving, gentle, playful and happy-go-lucky. I am intelligent and trainable but need you to be a calm, assertive leader that I want to follow; otherwise I may not see the point in obeying your cues. I also do not do well being left alone for long periods of time if I have not been sufficiently exercised first. Left to my own devices, if I get bored, I can definitely get naughty. I enjoy playing with other dogs but I can be overwhelming and pushy. If there is a dog buddy in my new home, we need to be well matched; a meet-and-greet is a definite must to make sure we get along. I cannot share a home with a kitty, though, because I get WAY overstimulated; it would not be a happy situation for the cat. Any children in my new home should be 12 years or older because they need to fully understand that I tend to guard my food bowl and other valuable resources a bit. I get upset if someone approaches me during mealtime; perhaps I would learn to be more comfortable if you tossed some yummy tidbits into my bowl as you walk past. Soon I may look forward to people walking by while I am eating. If there are valuable things like hot dog bits on the floor and someone is near, I just inhale them to ensure I get them all. You may think I am a paradox, but I do accept treats from you gently. I LOVE to run and am hoping for lots of opportunities for exercise and mental stimulation; not only will that keep me happy and healthy but it will help maintain my girlish 41-pound figure. I would not be a good candidate for an apartment, condo or other communal environment; I have a marvelous singing voice when the mood strikes me. I know I can make a wonderful companion for a family who is aware of what to expect from me and are willing to put the time and energy into helping me become a well-mannered lady who is a welcome community member. Come to WCHS to meet me in person and I know you will agree I am an astounding, vivacious gal who would add excitement and sparkle to your family and home.
