About MEADOW

Meet Meadow! She is a 59-pound, 1-year-old shepherd mix who entered the shelter as a stray, but has quite the backstory! Meadow was on the run for months as a very scared, under-socialized pup. She was finally caught by Animal Control Officers, and stayed in a loving foster home for about 7 weeks to help her build the confidence that she lacked. Meadow will need to go to a home that is willing to continue her positive reinforcement training. She loves to have a consistent routine and thrives when she does. We recommend 'tether training' her for 1-2 weeks in the home until she feels more comfortable. This means keeping her on a leash at your side at all times to help her to relax and bond with you. Although she is shy at first, she does form bonds quickly with people. Meadow is a very sweet girl who enjoys going on walks, car rides, and cuddling! She is afraid of fast movements and loud noises. She is potty trained and leash trained, but would benefit from a basic obedience course. She knows 'sit' and is working on learning 'shake'. Meadow is treat-motivated to learn more. Meadow prefers women over men. She will warm up to men, but it usually takes a while. A home with children ages 8 and up who understand to take things slow with her would be best. Meadow does great with other dogs and has done well around cats, but does occasionally try to chase them. Meadow must go to an indoor home ONLY. She will need a very secure are to keep her safe and contained. Any yard area will need to have 6-foot-fencing. Meadow's adoption fee of $125 includes spay, current vaccines, and microchip.
