About Tink

Adoption Fee: $250
Corgi / Dandie Dinmont Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Tink is ready for adoption! Those are words we never thought we'd say. You would never know to look at her that she was once a hospice foster. Tink came to our rescue from a small shelter in south TX. She had been abandoned at a boat dock along the gulf coast. It took them a week to catch her but once she was in the shelter and we saw her pictures, we saw a little Corgi mix under all of that fur. We were able to get her into foster in San Antonio but she became very ill. Our vet said not only is she very heart worm infected, her heart was extremely enlarged and she had a severe heart murmur. That vet recommended euthanasia but we wouldn't hear of it. Tink has spunk and she was determined to live. Over the following weeks, two more vets recommended she be put down, but again Tink seemed to tell us she wanted to live this new life and find out what it's like to be loved and to give love. We found a vet who was willing to work with us on treating her heart worm disease and murmur. That was 22 months ago and guess what? Tink went from a level 6 heart murmur to 0! She still tests heartworm positive but with continued slow kill treatment, she will soon be negative for that. Tink has spunk and a bit of a Diva complex. I'd say she deserves that title. She is good with most other dogs but wants to be in charge. She will occasionally hog the bed and the couch but she does share with her humans. Tink is now about 4 years old, 15 lbs, fully vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Her favorite activities are sitting on your lap, sleeping in your bed, playing and running around barking and most of all - eating! Tink's dislikes are leaving the house (she's a homebody) and other dogs taking her human's lap. We think Tink would do best in a home with no other dogs or with another dog that is submissive. She's a Corgi mixed with likely Dandie so she loves to communicate through barking so an apartment would not be a good environment for her. She will need to home with a securely fenced yard so she can run around and play. Tink is house trained and will go into a crate when asked. Tink is good with both men and women but children make her nervous so no kids under 12 please. Please contact us through this link for more information.
