About Theo

This handsome, nervous guy is Theo(Shepherd on right)! This poor guy is jot enjoying the rescue life. It's definitely causing him excess stress. He really needs to find his forever place ASAP. He is one of four German Shepherd brothers, that need a new home. Two of the brothers have been adopted to wonderful homes and are doing fantastic with their new families. The next 2 are going through basic training/exposure and then will be available. These guys lived outside on one property their entire lives. During the day they were all in one kennel and at night they were set loose to watch the business. They really haven't experienced much in their 3 years of life. which is why they are a little cautious and nervous of new people, animals and situations. They've never met other dogs, cats, children or people(besides the people that worked on the property) until coming here. We have the two more dominant brothers now (Sam and Theo) Theo has been with us for about 1 1/2 months now and is ready for adoption TO AN APPROVED HOME with a very patient person! Theo is the more nervous and unsure of the two brothers. He's pretty good on walks, but will cling when he's nervous and needs to be bumped off your leg. He's good in the car, NOT good for nails(We are working hard on this)and good, but nervous at the vet. He's unsure of new people and would rather hang with those he knows. He wants to bond to one main person, probably a dominant but very calm female. What Theo Needs: Theo needs a Person with Shepherd experience, Someone who is willing to exercise him for about an hr a day! (walk, jog,bike or hike) Absolutely NO Dog Parks with any of the dogs we adopt out! Someone who will be patient and willing to continue to expose him to the world, very slowly. Someone who wont force people interactions and doesn't need to be constantly touching their dog. We look for Adopters who want healthy and balanced relationships with their dogs. Someone who is comfortable with structure and setting healthy boundaries with their dog. This guy is a on the high end of medium energy and his nerves keep him unable to fully relax at times. He is more of a family type Shepherd, not a working line dog. He is a nice dog, he just needs someone who will take alot of time to slowly bond with him, get to know him,and expose him to the world. He is good with big dogs and small dogs, but needs supervised intetactions as he was the 2nd most dominant of the group and enforced rules within his pack. Theo will need to be with an adopter who is willing to learn body language , so that his interactions with dogs and people stay polite and balanced. He was the 2nd most dominantand the enforcer in his group of brothers, so he can't be with a person that won't set strong boundaries with people and animal interactions. That could go very wrong, very quick.
