About Cookie

Adoption Pending Meet Cookie Cookie is as sweet as a cookie can be. Unfortunately, Cookie appears to be a victim of the throwaway mentality. Showing up one day on the doorstep of a kindly person, Cookie looked world weary and exhausted. The kindly person took Cookie in and gave her a warm and safe place to recover while searching for her owner. Unfortunately, no one was looking for Cookie. The person who took her in was unable to keep her long-term and asked if we could help find her a forever family. We took one look at Cookie and brought her in on Nov. 16, 2018. Cookie is a dream dog. We think she's a Chihuahua/beagle mix or as we affectionately say a 'chibeagle'. She's on the older side and looks to be between eight to 10 years old. She's terrific with cats and people, and she's currently puppy-sitting for one of our younger, smaller puppies. Cookie is patient with the puppy's antics and willingly provides the puppy comfort when she gets sleepy. Seeing the two of them curled up together in their cozy bed will simply melt your heart. Cookie eagerly greets visitors with a wagging tail and she loves snuggling into a lap. She's on the smaller size weighing 11 pounds. If teeth are anything to go by, it looks like Cookie's been terribly neglected over the years, but you'd never know it by her sweet, gentle and calm demeanor. Cookie would be the perfect companion for someone looking to share their heart and home. Cookie appears to be house-trained, but she appreciates a short walk to do her 'business'. If an older dog captures your heart, come meet our Cookie. You will be so glad that you did. She is a gem. If you don't receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please call our shelter at 706-865-4135. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4.
