About Hootie

My mother passed away a few weeks ago, leaving behind her beloved 6-year old female boxer mix - Hootie. I live in California and unfortunately can't keep her. My siblings all have unique situations as well (one rescues cats) and can't accommodate her either. We've been trying to find a good match for her through Social Media. Hootie is a really great dog. She sleeps in her own bed, is completely house-trained (mom had her in obedience classes when she was a pup) and will make someone a really great companion. And while she's been around other animals and small kids, the best situation would probably be an active older person/couple looking to be a one dog family. Given the situation with my mom - being shuttled in/out of hospitals the past month, and strangers (my nephew and/or myself) staying with her in the evenings, Hootie is in need of a loving home and stability to help get her loss. I truly believe she's grieving for her Nanny. We have friends/family in Ohio helping us show Hootie and drive her to meetings, and would be able to bring her to a mutually convenient location.
