About Abbey

Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

We adopted Abbey a cattle dog mix from a shelter as a 9 week old in February. We are hoping someone out there can help us to rehabilitate her so we can KEEP her OR that there is someone better suited to her with a farm or a lot of dog experience. She's now almost a year old and we are having problems with stranger aggression. She is very loving with us and with anyone she's already met and perceived as not a threat, but with clients who come to my home she is very aggressive. Once the stranger has been in the house for about 10 minutes, she becomes totally loving and wants to play. It is only introductions that are fueled with aggression, but the nature of my job is that she meets new people often. Please note that we have no other complaints about her. She is happy, fun-loving, loves snuggles, loves everyone she's already met, knows 30+ tricks and commands, sleeps quietly in her crate, is potty trained etc. Please also note that her aggression is fear/anxiety based, not true aggression. We love her more than words can say and the idea of having to rehome her is totally devastating, but we think she would have a happier life if she could chase sheep and roam free.
