About Chop

Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Dog's actual Location: Port St. Lucie, FL **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them. These dogs are with their owners, and are not in BDRA foster homes. We do our best to screen these dogs, but make no guarantees regarding the information posted.** Chop was recently surrendered to a high kill shelter when he lost his sight. A Good Samaritan adopted him so that he would be given another chance at a good life. GS will not be able to keep him, adopted with the intent to re-home. This is an URGENT situation as GS rescues cats and Chop barks at them all day long. If you would like to adopt Chop, please email: [email protected] Name: Chop Age: 3 years, 40 pounds Sex: Male (confirmed neutered) Breed: North American Staffordshire Location: Port St. Lucie, FL Vet Info: Chop was given a 1 year rabies vaccine and neutered. Diagnosed with Degenerative Retinal Atrophy. Has kennel cough, being treated. Slight arthritis in right hip. HW negative. Owner Info: Chop was rescued from a Tampa high kill shelter. GS describes him as 'very sweet, good boy, good with dogs and kids. He doesn't like cats; and unfortunately we foster kittens for a local rescue as well. Has about 20% of vision left. Getting over kennel cough.' GS has only had Chop for a little over a week, he is housebroken and leash trained. They don't know if he knows any commands yet. He is good in a crate - crated when GS not home for safety. He is outgoing, good with men, women and teenagers as well as both male and female dogs. GS does not know his experience with children. Chop is not possessive with treats, toys or food. He will growl at cats but has not gone after them. Chop shows no signs of anxiety, navigates very well. He is non-reactive to barking dogs or people noise, will just wag his tail. GS tells us that Chop is a very sweet dog. He is constantly being barked at by her Chihuahuas and he has never shown any aggression at all. GS thinks he bonds a little better to men. He does tend to get a little nervous when GS's cockatoo is trying to share his water bowl! **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
