About Murphy

Sweet little Murphy is a cutie patootie! Murphy is a black and tan terrier mix. He's about a year old. He was found wandering the streets of Sautee, GA all alone and trying to fend for himself. A kindly person took him in hoping to find his owner. Unfortunately, no one came forward to claim him and the person who found him wasn't able to keep him after all. He was surrendered to us on November 4 in the hopes we could find him a loving forever home. And, we hope to do just that! Having gotten to know Murphy, we think Murphy is all that and a bag of chips. He's super cute, super sweet and super playful. He loves people, dogs and cats, and looks forward to having a good time. Murphy is an incredible older puppy, always upbeat and joyful. Murphy weighs about 40 - 45 pounds. He's a solid medium-sized dog willing and able to do pretty much anything that you might enjoy - hiking, running, biking or running around with the kids and hanging out. Have we mentioned we think Murphy is da' bomb?! We're not sure if Murphy is housetrained; he may need some help there, but his manners are good and we expect that with some training and consistency in his life, he'd learn quickly. He's a pleaser and anyone who knows a terrier knows how smart they are. If you want to meet what we think is one cool dog, come check out Murphy. You'll be glad you did. He'd make for a great addition to a loving family. Murphy is scheduled to be neutered this week and is fully vetted and will be ready for his forever home next week. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
