About Nathan

Nathan is available for foster or adoption. We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families. Nathan is currently fostered in Bradenton, FL (Manatee County). Nathan is a very, very sweet, submissive 4-year-old, 15 pound Jack Russell x Dachshund mix. He is a little longbacked but not a low rider. He has the cutest ears that fold over. He can be a little bouncy, loves to play with toys and tug, and has some spring in his step! He would love to be a lap dog, but he would also like to play tug and fetch with you. He plays well with other dogs, but does not like to be bombarded with an overexuberant dog, which will cause him to go run and hide. He does best with amicable calm meets and then the fun and games can begin. He is super friendly with people of all ages. While he has never been exposed to cats in our rescue, I would bet he will be afraid of them. He is very crate trained; his crate is his safe spot. Housebroken, loves to lie in the sun. Leash broken and walks nicely. Would make a great companion dog for someone that is moderately active and has another moderately active dog that is not larger than medium-sized. He has a lot of love to give and gives ear kisses. Loves to sleep with you. Have not tried him on disc or water yet. I would recommend a fenced area for him. If you are looking for an affectionate snuggling dog, this would be your boy. He is not guardy and shares toys well. He will be ready to leave in two weeks and we are now taking applications on him. Nathan will be all up-to-date on vetting prior to adoption.
