Had major jaw surgery for broken jaw. We would love for Peter & Toby to be adopted together. Peter is the sweetest most adorable little fellow, not just to look at but he also has a beautiful sweet, loving personality & that also makes his story so sad is, he is still the same little loving fellow after everything he has endured. Peter was from a very high kill shelter in CA but he needed rescue immediately for being possibly being beaten & needing medical care immediately. Another horrendous story of abuse & neglect & we could not bare to leave him there & suffer as we learned Peter's jaw was possibly broken or fractured & would need a major extremely costly jaw surgery & he was listed as extremely anemic & tick infested so this little man had experienced so much pain. Unfortunately it was true, the damage was so severe from possibly being beaten & left untreated for a very long time like this that after several x-rays it was discovered poor little Peter's jaw had a large gap in his jaw bone & needed major jaw surgery & a metal rod put into his jaw. The absolute cruelty here was horrendous on this sweet little man. He was still anemic & that could of been from being tick infested. We got the procedure done & by the loving care & dedication by his amazing foster mum in CA Peter slowly began to heal & his anemia got better. Peter did have to go back into his surgeon & have another gap in his little mouth sewn back up which is common his surgeon said with such surgeries as Peter's. Peter started to recover beautifully in his foster home in CA, but he would continue unfortunately for some time get smelly breath because of the surgery & destruction of what was done to his mouth & jaw. After months of healing & love & care & devotion it was time for Peter to come to WA to his new foster home. Peter is neutered, possibly a schnauzer mix but what he is mixed with we do not know for sure. We have spent well over $2300 on Peter's care. He weighs roughly just over 13 lbs, is up to date on his shots, heart worm negative, chipped, loves all other dogs, great with people, we have had him around very respectful children & we have not had him around cats before. It's mandatory for Peter to go to a forever home with another very playful dog in the home as he loves the companionship of other dogs. It would make us so extremely happy if Peter & Toby we're adopted together because throughout both of their journeys of recovery they have been together & truly love each other & play together all day long in the previous foster home in CA & their foster home in WA. Peter's foster mums both said he is very affectionate & playful loves to be with you & loves to play with other dogs. He plays & plays with his foster brother Toby. Peter's foster mum said when Peter runs its the most adorable site to behold. Both foster mums also said he walks well on a leash & Peter enjoys a good car ride in a car seat, he does not like crates at all so in his new home it has to be a crate free home. It always looks like Peter has a crooked smile from his jaw surgery & recovery. Peter has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it's always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not had him around small children so this would be up to the new family to be responsible with. We do not know for sure what breed Peter is & it's always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Peter's friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. We would also never say one of our sweet beloved rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training will in fact take them to training. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Peter & going through the process and have read his listing fully to the end & are interested in adopting. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your applic
