*****If you do not have Cattle Dog Experience and do not have a 'job' for your dog please do not apply****** Waylon is what people would consider a smaller sized cattle dog but don't let that fool you! If you are interested in dog sports such as flyball, agility, or nose work or anything involving a dedicated fuzzy partner- Waylon could be the dog for you! He is most happy when he has a job and job security (haha). As long as you are game for it, so is he! Waylon has had previous training in agility and some basic obedience. However due to his love for work he can be selective about his four legged friends. His foster mom is working on giving him an outlet so he doesn't come off so sharp at meet and greets; however due to this and his previous home situation We recommend him as an only dog. In Waylon's first home he was an only dog. In his foster home he is learning to realize that the world isn't all about him. Because he grew up an 'only child' He hasn't had much exposure or experience with young Children and due to his drive and herding instincts we also recommend no young children. Waylon is a diamond in the rough, he's smart, quick and completely dedicated to his person. He loves to learn new things and could go very far, if his new home is interested in competition or just looking to try new things in a dog sport venue. He's looking for someone just as dedicated and ready to give him the job he needs. If you are interested in adopting Waylon please email [email protected] and request an application. Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family. If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered. Waylon's adoption donation is $300 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test when appropriate and is on preventative, microchip, and neuter. We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
