About Russell

Great Dane / Lab
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Ok. So some months ago we rescued 2 dogs that were left to starve. Russell and Scooby. Scooby recovered far faster than Russell. He was adopted out a couple months ago and is well. Russell however didn't fair so well. We have kept him til now so to build up his body mass and make sure he would be adoptable. I don't know what kind of dog he is. A bit of Dane I think given his physical and personality traits. He always has to have a paw on me. He is nuetered. Russell has no food aggression. He is incredibly timid I assume due to the neglect. He gets along fine with our male German Shepard and has no issues with the cats or chickens, or horses. Russell is a nervous Nellie. Again I assume due to the neglect. He is a gentle soul who will sleep on the couch for sure. He is housebroken%A0 but occasionally but not often will have an accident if not put out in time. I think he is 6 to 8 years old. He is an incredible watch dog. He will bark when someone walks in. Bark every time. He is not an apartment dog. Needs space outside. We admittedly don t tie him out anymore because he will not leave our property, however he has no aversion to being leashed or tied. My suggestion would be that Russell%A0 find a single or 2 person home where there isn't a lot of traffic. Again he paces with too much stimulation. I wouldn't suggest children, not because he's mean but because he does best when it's calm. He will make an excellent companion for older folks. He is gentle, loving and kind and only wants the same. Health wise he seems healthy. He will need a vet visit as we have no knowledge of shots etc. He has what we think is just a large skin tag hanging on his chest. We have noticed no other ailments. We have had him I believe 5 mos. Our home is an incredibly busy place. Too busy for Russell to be comfortable. Too many people and animals for him to be able to relax. Again a single or two person home with outside space would be optimal. What an amazing dog for an older person. So if you would be so kind to share this post that would be appreciated.
