About Ozzy

This fancy little smush face is Ozzy! Ozzy is a young (approx 1-2 yr old) pekingese, or a similar type of mix, with long flowing locks and a permanent grump expression, that recently found his world turned upside down when he ended up at a local shelter because his family did not have time to care for him any longer. Not much information was given but from what we understand Ozzy lived with kids 5 years and older, and other dogs. His owner also mentioned he does not like strangers or sharing his toys and food. Although Oz has not been with us very long our experiences with him are very different - he has been sweet, albeit a bit shy and mellow, with us and loves to play ball (including sharing it nicely with us so we can throw it for him). In fact his favorite activity appears to be snuggling next to someone on the sofa, whether a new friend or old, and getting gentle pets. His wispy ear hair is to die for (I am sure many women spend lots of money to get that casual crimped look) and he is more than happy for you to admire it - as well as the rest of him. Ozzy does seem a bit more comfortable off the bat with women than men he doesn't know, but he can be won over. He may be best in an adult only home, or one with older kids who understand he may need a little space when getting to know their friends, etc. He just acts like a mellow guy who would love a mellow home. Ozzy has done well with the other smaller dogs in our adoption center, although he likely would not appreciate being pounced on by a large, boisterous dog. We certainly wouldn't want to mess up that fancy hair of his anyways! He is fine with dog savvy cats as well. Ozzy does have some special needs as he seems to have a very sensitive GI system and is doing well on a bland prescription diet. He may intermittently have ongoing issues and any prospective families should be prepared for this. Ozzy's adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccinations to date, microchipping and basic vet care including flea preventative, deworming and heartworm testing.
