About Diana

Catahoula mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

7 month old female Cattle Dog mix, about 40 pounds. Diana came to us from a shelter in Texas along with her siblings. They were all adopted and she was held back due to a few medical issues that were being discovered. Turns out, Diana has a bit of a sight problem due to a neurological issue. It is not yet known if the problem is a brain stem or mild hydrocephalus problem at this point. She is growing and developing fine but does have some mental development issues. She is unaware of where her feet are sometimes and doesn't recognize her own size and strength. She can see, but only out of the bottom half of her eyes, so down low. She plays rough like most cattle dogs but also thinks nothing of pouncing with all her weight! She has proven to be harder to housebreak, because of her delayed mental development. She is doing great with dogs that like to rough house but proves to be too much for little dogs. She loves people she knows and loves to snuggle but struggles with new experiences, places and strangers. She is a bit of a special girl and will always need special accommodations for her mental development. A fully fenced yard and possibly another dog that has her play style would be required. Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older, and always before being placed in their new homes. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at [email protected] or click on the CONTACT link on this page. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. If you live within a five-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home. Adoption contract and fee applies.
