NOTES FROM SAFE HAVEN: Note that no age is listed in the shelter notes, but all dogs appear to be young. The Vet will be able to determine age when they are under for spay/neuter (which would be after adoption or rescue). Came from - Mesa Hoarder (same house as Duke, Camilla, Odie, Saffron, Sunflower, Sally, Mandi, Bijou, Bizzy, Shorty, & Roxanne) NOTES FROM THE SHELTER: Male, Brown, Chihuahua Sh/Mix WAIT RESQ I came to the shelter as an owner surrender. Surrender reason: OWNER PROB MEDICAL: He appears to be healthy at this time. BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: Very little is known of this dog's history. He is fearful and shut down in the shelter environment. Techs were able to vaccinate and do an exam while holding him with a towel but he remains actively avoidant of soft contact. He prefers to stay outside in his kennel but will come inside for treats. Stops eating treats once handler is present. He keeps his head averted from handler and pressed close to the wall in avoidance. He huddles in the corner, shaking. When handler reached out to offer him a treat, he did lip curl and growl at handler. He is likely not leash trained as other dogs from this group have not been. We feel this dog would benefit from a quieter, home type setting where he will have extra time to gain confidence and learn to cope with real life situations. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This dog came in through our field department from a hoarding situation where multiple dogs were housed in deplorable conditions. Weight: 14.74 Lbs
