About Freyja

Adoption Fee: $250
Belgian Malinois
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

A little background for you, my son passed away last year, and he left behind a beautiful female Belgian Malinois who is approximately 4 years old. She is current on shots but has not yet been spayed, I will be spaying her prior to adoption. She is not trained and is very high energy. My deceased son's brother has been caring for her but now he has a job where he is gone for sometimes 20 days at a time and honestly, he can't give Freyja what she needs either, that being said she had temporary housing but that did not work out. Freyja needs to be exercised and trained and she winds up in a kennel most of the day. She has also nipped at their 4 yr old and other kids who have come over to play, it generally happens only when they are loud, run or are on bikes, she's not vicious she just doesn't know that hurts and that little kids aren't toys to be retrieved or snapped at. Which makes her not a fit for families with small children and she probably won't do well with small dogs or cats either, which is why I cannot take her I have 2 small dogs, a 10 year old and my elderly mother who has dementia living with me, not to mention we are gone most every weekend and I work full time and with this house full I cannot physically or mentally take on anymore responsibility. I have worked very minimally with Freyja and found that she is a very quick study, she doesn't act up with me and enjoys when I walk her but it is a disciplined short walk as I'm limited on time, I use a combination leash that acts as a nose halter and slip collar which is attached to her regular collar for safety, but I'm familiar with complicated dogs and how they learn, my grown boys do not understand these kind of dogs are not generally suited for house pets they need a job and they need daily mind work. I won't and couldn't in good conscience re-home her until I am sure she is going to a compatible home that can offer training and preferably a job for her to do, she needs a rescue/foster situation, where she can be re-homed to a good home or her ultimate fate would just be getting passed around from home to home and possibly being put down if she wound up in the shelter. We have approximately 7 days to figure this out as my son goes back to work and we currently do not have a safe home to place her in. The adoption fee is negotiable mostly to cover transportation and spaying.
