ADOPTION PENDING Meet Cindy Cindy is a 'special needs' miracle dog, looking for another miracle to make her life complete. Cindy is a gorgeous one year old yellow lab mix. Unfortunately, she very nearly lost her life due to an undiagnosed illness. Thanks to the lifesaving work of a special volunteer, some incredible veterinarians and what might be divine intervention, Cindy is alive and well and ready for a forever home. Cindy has had a rough go of things lately. You see, Cindy being an active puppy accidentally knocked the cane out from under her frail, elderly owner and he fell down. She did not hurt him, she would never do that; she loved him. Her owner, however, worried that she was too much for him to handle and being a puppy, she needed more exercise than he could offer. This accident cost Cindy the only home, the only love and the only security she'd ever known. When she arrived at our shelter she was petrified. Her heightened angst sent her into a series of seizures by the second day. Cindy was rushed to the emergency vet for testing. At the vet's urging one of our incredible volunteers took Cindy home to monitor and await the test results in a calm and quiet environment. Unfortunately, things got worse for Cindy that night. She became locked in the throes of what are called cluster seizures. She seized every hour all night long. These seizures were wearing her little body down%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD'%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD| and they wouldn't stop. Two incredible volunteers were able to get her to the vet in the morning. Unfortunately, if the vet could not get the seizures to stop Cindy would have to be euthanized. The vet tried a 'Hail Mary' treatment. It worked! By all accounts is was a true miracle that Cindy's seizures stopped and she survived them. After extensive testing, Cindy was diagnosed with Epilepsy. Cindy is now being treated with medication, which she'll need to remain on for the rest of her life. Since being on her medication, she's had no seizures; by staying on her medication she should live a healthy and active life. The vet thinks it was the stress of the shelter that triggered her seizures. Cindy will live in a foster home until her forever family can be found. Her foster mom says she's an absolute joy with a friendly and sweet personality. She's living with multiple dogs and she loves the doggie interaction. She loves cats and people. She is house trained and loves to ride in a car. Cindy seems to suffer from separation anxiety when away from people she loves. This comes as no surprise after what she's been through. With consistency and love, this may ease up as she learns to trust again. Cindy is a medium size girl. She's fully vetted, heartworm negative, spayed and ready for a special person or family who will love her and care for her special needs. Cindy is truly a miracle dog and the person or family that adopts her will be richly rewarded with one of the sweetest dogs there is. Cindy's foster mommy can provide additional information.
