This is what her foster family says about her: She's very intelligent- can open drawers and cabinet doors with latch handles. She is the most intelligent dog. She will make someone a perfect companion. SHE IS GOOD WITH MALE DOGS,SHE IS A DOMINANT FEMALE DOG, BUT NOT AGGRESSIVE, SHE WOULD BE BEST IN A HOME WITH OLDER CHILDREN 13+ years old. Maribel is looking for a safe place to call home, where she can curl up with you and watch TV, go for walks and play ball... Here are some excerpts from a letter Maribel wrote with the help of her mom: I am Miss Maribel and my foster brother found me as a stray in the mountains. I have been with my foster family for over 2 months. I have some 'baggage'- I was hungry, so hungry I ate rocks and anything I could get my paws on. I had to survive so I had to be tough just like a kid on the street with no guidance or support. Being a stray is not easy but I survived! There are things I do not understand such as that I cannot react to every fear with a growl. I will probably always be a little protective over the people in my life who take care of me, so help me understand when it is okay and when it is not. For fun I might play ball with you for a moment or roll around in the grass very playfully. I love to explore and need someone who will explore with me. I will try to go explore on my own, so I may try to jump a fence. I love walking the woods more than sleep. I love getting in the river but not since it got cold. If it is cold and rainy, I explore less and would rather be curled up in a toasty warm place! There are still things that scare me, so I need someone who can read my fears and help ease them for me. I need patience and time to become your best friend in the whole world. Work with me, train me, help socialize me but do not do it all at once. Too much new, all at one time is not going to work for me. I almost forgot that I know how to sit, shake, down, roll-over (but just to get a belly rub), drop it, leave it, and I understand 'no'. I do give the best kisses! I am extremely intelligent and intuitive, so I can sense what other people are feeling. I just need someone to know how I am feeling and to understand me.
