About Lady Mac

Adoption Fee: $300
Dachshund
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Love bug Lady Mac is an 8 year old black and Tan dachshund who weighs 10 pounds. She was surrendered to us by her owner and was kept as an outside dog before coming to rescue. We get the impression that she did not receive a whole lot of positive attention during that time because now that she has had a taste of what that is like, she can't get enough of it! Lady Mac is potty trained and will let you know when she needs to go outside. She is good with small dogs though bigger dogs can sometimes make her nervous. Just something to aware of when you're out walking and encounter other dogs in the street who want to say hi. Their attention may not always be well received. She has not been tested with smaller children or cats but she is good with teenagers. Since she has gotten used to being shown affection her foster mom says she has become her shadow. She calls her a velcro dog because she is always right there, wherever she goes and, if her foster mom isn't home, Lady Mac will find another person to be close to! If you are watching a movie you will have a snuggle partner with her. She is very loving once she gets to know you. Lady Mac doesn't enjoy riding in the car and she will need extra comfort if she ever needs to be taken anywhere, like the vet, for example. She recently lost her sister, who she had grown up with, and has adjusted to that loss slowly. Both girls had to have surgery to remove mammary tumors. Her sister's surgery was more extensive and she did not do well following surgery. She passed away a few days later. Lady Mac has done really well and has settled in with the dogs in her foster family and enjoys playing with them. We believe that she would do better with another dog in the house because she is used to having a companion. She is a great watch dog and will always alert you when anybody comes to the door. She will go in a crate if she needs to be contained for a short period of time but at night she needs to be close to her people and will want to sleep in the bed with them both for companionship as well as emotional comfort. Lady Mac is a talker and will let you know when she needs some love and attention. She is an amazing girl and so deserving of her own home! We think she is a very special baby and are helping her find that special someone who will love her the way she deserves to be loved.
