About Rose

Adoption Fee: $100
Australian Shepherd / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Rose Rose is a beautiful two-year old Australian Shepherd/lab mix. She arrived with her four puppies on April 24, 2018. She was a good and caring momma and her daughters have all been adopted. Rose, however, is still looking for her happily ever after. Rose has had a tough life. While out on her own, she did all she could to protect herself and her puppies from an unkind person. We were lucky to get her into the safety of our shelter where she could raise her puppies and get herself taken care of before serious bodily harm came to her and her puppies. As a result of her past treatment, she is extremely timid. When she first arrived, she would run to the other end of her kennel, hoping against hope that you would go away. However, over time, she's come out of her shell. It takes a bit to gain her trust, but once you do she's all tail wags and doggie kisses. She's shown herself to be one of the sweetest dogs and has quickly become a shelter volunteer favorite. She's very calm and has a lovely disposition. Rose is being housed off site on and off with a dog trainer to help build her confidence and show her there is kindness in the world. She is house trained and her house manners are impeccable. She gets along well with other dogs and shows no interest in cats. She walks well on a leash, but because of her past she is frightened easily by things with wheels and busy, noisy places. If frightened she will lay down and hope no one notices her. It's heartbreaking to see this happen and know how past cruelty has shaken her confidence and stolen her joy. But she is rebounding slowly and surely with the help of caring people. Rose weighs about 45 pounds of solid muscle. She is spayed, fully vetted and has tested negative for heart worms. The person lucky enough to win Rose's confidence and the patience to let her psyche heal will be richly rewarded with a tremendously loyal and nearly perfect dog. She will make for a wonderful companion. Call 706-865-4135 for information on additional health services provided as part of the adoption fee.
