About Charlie & Lilith

American Shorthair
Age: Young Adult

These two little balls of furry love are Charlie and Lilith. They are the much beloved pets of my dearest nephew, who after struggling unsuccessfully with alcoholism much of his adult life and failing to find long term success with several short term rehab programs, has committed himself to truly beating this thing and rebuilding his life and career by entering a two year intensive live in rehabilitation program. We are thrilled he's turning his life around, he is saddened by not being able to bring his pets with him. I have been trying unsuccessfully to find a long term foster or adoption for them. I've had two different fosters fall through last minute due to other circumstances in their lives, and now these two cuties are living in my guest room (which is surely more luxurious than a shelter, but also surely more lonely than living in an open home with people rather than getting visited in their private room a few times a day). I have a cat and a dog who won't accept new furpeople in the house, so for now, they have to stay in the guest room, and I want to find them a loving home. These two are total lovebugs... Lilith, the all black kitty, is the more shy of the two - but loves peoples, she would rather get pets than steak. Charlie, the white one with no tail, is more fiesty. He's the sort who will purr and love on you and revel in your pets and lovins', right up until he grabs your arm and takes a nibble (because you stopped petting? because you weren't petting enough? because he's just being a typical cat? who knows.). Both swarmed me with eager attention and love so much when I tried to get a photo I got 30 blurry shots before I came up with the one I posted (and had to add in a crop of a shot of Lilith with her eyes open because otherwise she looked like an all black shadow). They were raised with a dog and are very dog friendly, and Lilith is friendly with pretty much all animals, Charlie can sometimes be a little aggressive with other cats - mostly if he feels the need to defend Lilith. They're both lovely pets. The ideal thing for me to find would be someone willing to foster them for 2 years and give them back when my nephew has graduated from his program - BUT I know that's a big ask - to get attached for 2 years and then give them back - so I'm also totally open to adoption - my nephew wants more than anything for them to be happy and loved, even if it means giving them up for good. With adoption, we'd really like to keep them together, they grew up together and are like 2 peas in a pod. But, again, that may be harder to find than separate adoptions, so I'm open to offers of adoption or fostering for one or the other. But hopefully someone out there will be looking to take these two young sweethearts into their home and shower them with the love they deserve. I'd adopt them myself, but I promised years ago (after bringing another cat home made my cat utterly miserable) to let my elderly cat be an 'only cat' for the rest of her life. At 18 and still spry and healthy, she's surprised us all - but I need to keep my promise to her. Please get in touch if you'd like to rescue these kitties... they deserve better than their life in closed up in a single room all the time. Thank you so much!
