Reason for being in rescue: Marty Doodle was left tied to the outside of an animal shelter in GA by his owners. CPR pulled him from the shelter. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None noted Weight: 14.2 lb Height: in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $349 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Marty Doodle requires a special home that would be willing to work around his quirks and help him become the dog he has the potential to be. He needs an experienced dog owner with the patience to earn his trust. What is my personality like? Marty's behavior leads us to believe that his past has not been the best, and he doesn't understand why he was abandoned, tied to the outside of the animal shelter. When first meeting Marty Doodle, it can be a little alarming. He barks, and he will nip at you if you do not give him time to adjust before approaching him to give him attention. It seems like he has not had any basic training or know what it is really like to be someone's pet. Leashes scare him, and he is just now getting around to chasing tennis balls. However, Marty does like treats and this is the way to his heart. So far he has gotten along with other dogs he has met but he does bark at them like he's never been around other dogs before. We know this boy deserves to have a special person help him, and we hope we can do that for him! How do I act when I first meet new people? Cautious and nervous Other tips and tidbits: Marty Doodle is a special boy, and needs a special human to understand him. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
