About Riker

Riker was in a shelter for over a year when he was younger, and learned to become very protective of his human volunteers around all of the other strange animals. He loves people with a passion, has had obedience training, loves to cuddle and follow commands, and is even good around strangers and livestock, but he has a bite history with dogs and needs a family without other pets in the house. He will chase cats, and can become aggressive with other dogs if provoked. His status with very young children is unknown. He loves to run and play and walk on his leash, but his favorite thing is to try to do everything he can to please his humans. Riker is an unknown mix breed, but has previous adoption papers that guess him to be part wire haired gryphon, part Irish wolf hound, or part black mouth cur. Either way, it's likely that he is of hunting dog stock, and with his training, might do very well for this purpose with a little work. He's a good guard dog, and will let you know if anything's up while still being friendly to the postman. He's 70 lbs, neutered, and around 3-4 years old.
