About Roxy

This is Roxy! She was dumped by my rural home along with her three young puppies. She is a survivor and a beautiful, sweet dog -- not to mention a wonderful mother who kept all her pups safe until they could find forever homes! I would have kept all of them except I'm a writer researching a book in this part of the country, so only here temporarily and I'm going back home to NYC shortly. We discovered that this wasn't the first time they'd been dumped by an owner who had already been flagged by the local humane society. So, instead of sending them once again back to owners who were not caring (and who surrendered them immediately) for them (they were skin and bones, full of fleas and ticks, running alongside a country road -- but sticking together!), I decided to try to help by fostering them. After 6 weeks, we've gotten her weight up, coat is shiny, and she is healthy and happy. Now, she needs a forever home with a loving family that likes a pit bull mix. She thinks she's a lap dog, is eager to please, and was born in August 2017 so still a puppy herself in lots of ways. She is leash-trained and responds to basic commands. Will be a wonderful family pet for a devoted owner. Please don't hesitate to text with questions!
