*** DECEASED AT HOME 1.23.19. RIP DORIS *** *** MEDICAL ADOPTER ONLY *** This sweet lady, Doris, was picked up from the kill-shelter in horrible medical shape and we were advised to start preparing for her final step right away. However, this beautiful senior lady must've seen the light - a glimpse of happier days ahead - and she's bounced back!! Three weeks later, here is Doris on her way to yesterday's vet checkup. She definitely has renal issues but not as epically bad as it was first thought... she's literally only needed 1 bag of IV fluids this entire time which is a good sign her condition could be manageable! Leptospirosis has been ruled out. We're looking at a possible UTI that may be exacerbating her condition. Again, Doris is not 'cured' and will need some supportive (not hospice!) care going forward but all in all she definitely has some quality life left to live and be happy! And if she fights, we fight! Doris has arthritis in her hips but is still completely mobile and able to ambulate in and outside. She mingles well with other dogs as well!
