Chicago, IL - Foster/Adopt Winston the Friendly Senior Basenji/Lab-mix Winston is a happy and well-behaved, 11-year-old, 77-pound, male Basenji/Labrador-mix looking for a loving guardian. Due to circumstances beyond his control, Winston lost the home that he shared with his family who he lived with since he was rescued as a puppy. He is accustomed to a home with a yard, but he also LOVES his short leashed walks. He settles down nicely in the home, crate-trained, housebroken. He also loves to play ball. Sadly, he strained his back recently, so due to the pain, he is best with seasoned pet guardians and no small children. He is about 10 pounds overweight, she losing the weight and enjoying short walks and relaxed crate - time will help him heal. Winston is well-trained in his house manners. He doesn't get on your furniture or jump in your bed. He doesn't grab food off the counter or even beg. He recently went to a pet blessing ceremony at a church in Chicago and got along with everyone he met. He has lived as an indoor, much-loved and pampered dog all his life. He does bark at cats and dogs, so he may never have lived with any felines, but can get along with an extremely easy - going dog. But, probably best as only dog. He is an otherwise healthy senior, neutered, and up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. He does have arthritis, so he's best with fewer stairs in his home. His adoption fee of $200 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits.
