About Shelby the Mule

Adoption Fee: $500
Farm Animal
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Shelby is a mule (her mom was a Quarterhorse) that was born September 3, 2012. She has been in the same home since March 2013. She has been trained to ride and be handled on the ground. For all of those equine lovers out there, she rides and acts like a pony. She has never bucked or reared while being ridden. She does however know the difference between an experienced vs. novice rider, so she will do tight circles or refuse to move with a novice rider on her. Shelby is trained with total leg pressure; push with your left leg she turns right, push with your right leg she goes left. She is part donkey so she does require a stronger bit to get her to stop when you pull on the reins. When worked consistently, she tends to play less tricks (refusing to walk when being ridden, mouthing you on the ground, doing tight circles, etc.) She does know how to free lunge and will listen to ground commands (easy to go to the next slowest gate and switch so she will change directions). The adoption fee includes her saddle, saddle pad, bridle, and two bits.
