Have you ever wondered who answers all those 'Dear Abby' letters? Well it's me, Abby! I've gained so much wisdom over these past 12 years that I'm pretty much the source of all knowledge. What can I say, Border Collies like me are destined to rule the world. But I'm happy to start with ruling your couch. My poor, sweet owner had to give me up after all this time because she got dementia and had to go live in what sounds like a shelter but for older humans who need help. I sure hope she's okay. See, I'm a sweet, loyal, devoted doggo and this change was really hard for me. In spite of all this, I'm keeping my snout up and my best paw forward. I might be a Border Collie, but I'm surprisingly calm and collected. My foster doesn't even need to crate me during the day because I'm not destructive and she can trust me even after such a short time. I'm mostly house trained and I'm making great progress on leash training. Other dogs and kids are okay in my book; if your kids call my name while they're sitting on the couch, I'll jump up in their lap and snuggle! I'm spritely and healthy for 12 years old. I do have a benign tumor on my side, but the vet says it's normal and safe so I don't have to have surgery. Which is great news for both of us since you've already fallen in love with me and we haven't even met yet! My personality is all in the ears; I use them to tell you all kinds of secret messages (mostly when it's time to give me a dang treat already). Say, why don't you come down to the Waynesboro Petsmart on Saturdays between 10 AM and 2 PM and I'll use my ear signals to tell you all the answers to write on my adoption contract! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and hold adoption events at Petsmart in Waynesboro, VA (821 Town Center Drive Waynesboro, VA 22980) every Saturday. A $175.00 adoption fee ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
