Yep, I can just look at you and tell, you need a grandma in your life. Now finish your carrots, sit up straight, quit fiddle fartin' around, and listen to your elder young whippersnapper! If there's one thing I've learned in my 12 years on this rock, it's that people have a tendency to abandon us old folks when we aren't young and spritely any more. And that, my friend, is precisely what happened to me. My owner up and left me, Little Doll, at a rural kill shelter and thankfully, I duped these fosters into pulling me out of there, heh heh heh. I know it's a sad story, but I'm really hoping you might be the one who can turn it around for me. I sure could use somewhere to begin again. I may not be young, but I'm spritely and I've got more pep in my step than a puppy in a Milkbone factory. That's right, I'm still active and I love to run around the yard like a youngin'. Once I warm up to you, I'd love to snuggle up to you on the couch while we crochet baby blankets and watch reruns of Law and Order. My bifocals aren't quite what they used to be; I can't see to do my crosswords anymore! Don't get me wrong, I'm not blind, but my slightly impaired vision means that I get a little nervous if someone picks me up or a new dog gets right in my face. If I get too startled, I might have to test my dentures out, so please let me know you're there and make sure introductions with other dogs are intentional. Now, I do have some minor health concerns. I mean heck, I am 12 years young. I have a slight luxating patella on one leg but I sweet talked the doctor and he says I don't require surgery. I also have a fatty mass on my chest, but I recently had bloodwork done and I got the all clear! They say with age comes wisdom, and I'm pretty sure there's a picture of me next to that quote. I am crate trained and leash trained! I do alright with some dogs and I've been doing well with cats in my foster home. After years of babysitting and nannying, I think a house with older kids would be the best fit for me since the youngins have a tendency to grab me and pick me up. If you are looking for a sweet sidekick who can provide sage advice, snuggles, and laughs in the back yard, you are looking for me, Little Doll! Please don't overlook me just 'cause I'm older. I've still got a lot of love left to give and I'd sure love to meet you. Come on down to the Waynesboro Petsmart on Saturdays between 10 AM and 2 PM and wear your Sunday best! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and hold adoption events at Petsmart in Waynesboro, VA (821 Town Center Drive Waynesboro, VA 22980) every Saturday. A $175.00 adoption fee ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. For more information and to apply to adopt, please visit www.augustadogadoptions.org If you google our address, you will be directed to Richmond. That is NOT our adoption event location.
