About Siler

Children should be 12 years or older Howdy, my name is Siler - that is derived from a German word and means 'rope maker'. I may not actually make ropes, but I think I would enjoy a rope toy. I hail from the state of Tennessee and I am hale and hearty, so I will need plenty of exercise for me to be my best. I could have a dog buddy in my new home, but they need to be calm and respectful and we need to be introduced slowly so I have time to adjust. Initially I may be nervous and a bit under-confident, so I compensate by being vocal and hold my tail high. So, I am counting on you to control my dog introductions, so I do not get overwhelmed. I have met a couple dogs during my stay at the shelter that I enjoy tremendously and we have had many a play-date together which was a ton of fun. I cannot live with any cats because I find them way too much fun to chase and torment and I do not understand their correction at all; or maybe I pretend to ignore their correction, so I can keep chasing. Truth be told, I have a ton of fun chasing lots of things like birds, small critters or anything that is small and running. I do OK with all sorts of handling if you take it slow. I am not comfortable with fast movements or when you move your hands over my head - that just seems so intimidating and kind of rude and would prefer you not do that. Any children in my new home should be 12 years or older because I take treats roughly and lack manners; I need the kids to be old enough to help with my training. I respond well to verbal correction though if you remind me to be gentle. With daily exercise, a routine and training I am going to be a spectacular dog, I just know it. I have completed basic obedience at WCHS and enjoy practicing what I have learned. The nice folks at the shelter have also done a DNA test on me so I know have official papers to show I am an Amer-Swiss-Shepkimo-Box-a-Chow. I love attention and to play and have an incredible zest for life; I also know how to use my tail to tell you how happy I am. I have fabulous manners with my food bowl and continue to eat slowly if you join me at mealtime. When it comes to hot dogs dropped on the floor, I just inhale them and eat very quickly. I don't get mad; it's just a game I play where I want to scoop them all up before you can get them. I am a fun-loving guy who is about 1 year and 6 months old and at about 40 pounds I would be the perfect size for any family. I am intelligent, alert, friendly and most of all lovable and adorable.
