About Gibbs - IN TRAINING

Hello, my name is Gibbs. I'm a 4-year-old Basset/Treeing Walker Coonhound that weighs 51 pounds. I was provided this opportunity to show that there is so much untapped intelligence and loyalty in shelter dogs. And no dog is a lost cause. I came in a little wild and out-of-control when I first arrived. But I remember my first week here, and the training team they assigned me to evaluate me and saying things like energetic, charismatic, and my behaviors weren't set in stone yet. So they came up with a training program to fit my traits and help bring some balance into my life. I have already learned to channel some of my excess energy into the activities they have been teaching me like the basic commands, agility work, and tracking. I love using my nose. They have taught me a few games like Find It. It's where they hide my tug toy and I have to look for it using my hunting instinct. And Fetch, I looovvee playing fetch. I've also been doing a little CGC training and it's been pretty fun learning how to be polite and demonstrate good manners. I also love playing with other dogs. I'm not your typical Coonhound because even though I have the voice to set off car alarms, I'm usually pretty quiet. And I have my prey drive pretty much under control. Well, let me get back to mastering these commands before they try and turn my writing into a trick, LOL. And it's getting pretty close to potty time. Oh yeah, and did I mention, I'm potty trained. There's a saying, 'everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.' I need a home with dog savvy cats and a TALL fence because I can jump 3 feet VERY EASILY! Gibbs I'm neutered and UTD on all my vaccines, HW, FT, and have a microchip of my own. RPSM recommends children 6 years and older, dog savvy cats only because I chase them. I will require a standard fence (taller than 3ft) or underground.
