About Kane

Kane is a friendly, loving boy who will give you gentle kisses in exchange for ear scratches and belly rubs. He enjoys long walks and hikes with his foster mom and dad, as well as, his foster brother, who is also a German Shepherd. Like many dogs, he loves to romp in the fall leaves, play fetch and spend time with his foster family. He loves to cuddle and be cuddled. Kane is a sweet boy who loves to be with his people. This isn't a life that Kane was used to while in his original home. You see, Kane first came onto our radar on when we received an owner referral form from his owner. He was a family pet until the family had a child, a story we hear all too often in rescue. Kane was left unattended in the yard more and more and often tried to escape. One day, when trying to get back into the home TO HIS FAMILY, he injured his leg, leaving him barely able to walk. The owner refused to medically treat Kane for weeks and instead was looking to re-home him or if that was unsuccessful, the owner was prepared to have Kane euthanized. Without hesitation, GSRNJ took Kane into the program and immediately got him the medical treatment he rightfully deserved and desperately needed. It was a simple dislocation that could have been addressed immediately, but because it went without treatment for so long, surgery was necessary. Since the surgery, Kane has been to therapy and is 'back on his paws' again! He is thriving in his foster home and is ready for new adventures with a forever family that will love him unconditionally. Kane is neutered and up-to-date on his shots.
