Animal Welfare organizations have been deemed as essential business, and so we are able to continue our operation. However, we are taking the threat of COVID-19 very seriously and are following the government guidelines and implemting our own precautions. Meet & Greets will continue to be on an appointment basis only. They will take place either in the outside enclosed area, or the large room at the end of he kennels. There is a no contact, other than with the dog in place and children will not be allowed out of their vehicles. XIAO-HEI was saved from the legal meat trade in China in the Beijing area. She, her 10 siblings and mother were saved by a wonderful rescue lady in China and together we are working on getting them all to the safety of GaDaH-CHINA in Sebec, Maine. We pay to get these dogs vetted, tested, quarantined and all other requirements to import them to the safety of the rescue in Sebec, Maine. The adoption fee's vary slightly depending on the weight and size of the dogs. XIAO-HEI has a reduced adoption fee is US $550 and covers the costs we incur to save this precious souls. Xiao-Hei's siblings have all been adopted and having been here at the rescue now for over a year, she is wondering why no one wants to love her. Xiao-Hei is a gentle, shy girl, she is going to need someone that understands she has only known the rescue since she arrived in the US and so new people, places and a new home and life is going to be a huge transition for her. She enjoys the company of other dogs and is always snuggled up to one or a few of her friends, so we really would prefer her to go to a home with another dog, which would help her transition, however, if you have the family, lifestyle and understanding to help her transition then we will of course accept applications from families with no other pets. Xiao-Hei weighs around 35 pounds and is fully grown, she might fill out a little but it is doubtful she will get much bigger, maybe just a little heavier. She loves to run, play and wrestle with other dogs and although she has a petite frame, she is just as rambunctious when playing as he other dogs. She uses the dog door to go out and play and do her business, but she is not going to know to let you know she wants to go outside, so families should expect a couple of accidents whilst she makes her transition, but she does know to go outside, so I am confident she would learn quickly. She is very shy and will stand back and watch what is going on when new people come over, so she is going to need a patient and understanding family, but away from the rescue she will I am sure adapt. She is going to need to be taken to places to be socialized which might be stressful or scary for her, so again a family that has the time, the patience and understanding to work with her. Xiao-Hei has been through the export and import quarantine requirements from China to the US. She has her rabies, core vaccines/lepto, heartworm, tick-disease and screw worm tested negative. She has been de-wormed, micro chipped and received any necessary monthly preventatives. She has an estimated date of birth of 2 January 2018 and she weighs around 24.3 pounds and in September 2019 weighed around 35-40 pounds. Her mother we believe is a Belgian Shepherd and so she is most likely a Belgian Shepherd Dog Mix, we have no idea what breed the father is. It is up to you to look at her and decide what breed you think she could be. She arrived in the United States on 23rd August 2018, landing at JFK and then was driven up to the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We are looking for families with knowledge of experience of working breed needs to ensure they get a good balance of mental and physical exercise. Xiao-Hei is very shy initially and would benefit from another dog as a companion, when she is comfortable she is a super friendly, loving and affectionate girl. Out of her 10 siblings that came to the US, she was the first to become friendly and trust. She can be cautious, but trust is gained more quickly than her siblings.. WE DO NOT HAVE CATS OR LIVESTOCK AT THE RESCUE SO ARE UNABLE TO COMMENT ON HOW SHE WILL ACT NEAR OR AROUND THEM. She does use the dog door to get in and out and does go outside to do her business. I do not know if she would let you know she needs to go out since she has 24/7 access to the outside, but she is extremely smart and do not think it would take long to learn, so a few initial accidents in her new home whilst she adjusts and gets used to her new routine and has her family teach her to let them know she wants to go outside should be expected. Until arriving at GaDaH, she had never been an inside dog. She would benefit from a family who understands the importance of mental stimulation as well as physical exercise. As with all rescue's she needs guidance and training and we recommend families go through at least the basics of training with her themselves so that boundaries, personalities and body language can be learned
