About Jax

Adoption Fee: $275
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Jax is a magnificent, friendly and affectionate 3-year-old male German Shepherd in need of a loving home! Jax loves meeting new people and greats everyone with a smile and plenty of tail wags. He thinks he's a 75-pound lap dog and happily crawls into anyone's lap who will allow him to! He was purchased by an elderly woman in KY when he was a young pup. His previous owner realized she was not giving him the time and attention he deserved so she surrendered him to an animal control facility. Jax has since made his way to Chicago and is in a loving and nurturing foster home. Jax loves all people, including children and would be a good family companion. Jax can get very worked up and excited when seeing other dogs on a lead but is sharing his foster home with multiple other dogs and gets along well with everyone. Like most Shepherds, he is active and intelligent and will do best in a home that can provide him with plenty of daily mental and physical exercise. If he's left alone for too long or if he becomes bored, he can be a bit destructive and will find things to chew/eat. He's extremely food motivated and a bit obsessive, so we think he'd actually be a perfect candidate for a home looking for a dog to train in a canine sport or job such as agility, search & rescue, tracking, obedience, rally, etc. We'd prefer to place him in a home experienced with German Shepherds. Jax has also been diagnosed with epilepsy and has had one mild seizure every 4-6 weeks. His seizures are not yet frequent enough to require medication but he will most likely need to start medication in the future. He is otherwise a very healthy, robust boy. His hips have also been x-rayed and he shows no signs of dysplasia. He will be a remarkable companion for one lucky household. Jax is currently in a foster home and can be seen by appointment once an application has been approved. His adoption fee of $275 helps to cover his neuter, vaccines, and microchip.
