About Banjo

Banjo was found on the side of the road with a broken back leg. His original owners moved away and left him alone about a year ago. Then on top of that, he was hit by a car some time last month. We took him in and brought him to the vet. We and the vet believe that he appears to be pure yellow lab (or if he's mixed it doesn't show very much.) They gave him his vaccines, treatment for fleas and worms, and took x-rays of the broken leg. Unfortunately, due to the age and the nature of the injury, the vet recommends amputating the leg. We have an appointment scheduled with the orthopedic specialist for more information on that. We will also likely have him neutered with the amputation. He is the sweetest dog ever, even from the first time I approached him. He wags his tail for everyone he meets and won't turn down a belly rub. He is not super active, most likely due to his injury, but that doesn't stop him from getting around. He loves being outside and even gets himself up to a light jog. We have a chihuahua and a cat that he seems very interested in and it's almost as if he wants to play with them. They are older and a bit standoffish though so they make it hard to judge if he likes other animals. I want him to find the perfect home that A.) is suitable for his wants and needs, and B.) will have the patience, love, and support he deserves. A fenced-in yard is a must (he lived on his own for a year so he is most likely used to wandering around) so he can be outside as long as he likes (which is sometimes a VERY long time.) As previously mentioned, I believe he's okay with other animals but a proper introduction should probably occur before anything final happens.
