About Pancho

Adoption Fee: $35
Saint Bernard / Great Pyrenees
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Pancho is a 3-4 year old male Saint Bernard & Pyrenees mix. He is VERY loving and super sweet! He loves to ride in the car and would love an active family/person. I helped with his rescue - here is his back story: His family got him in Texas as a puppy. Unfortunately, they didn't plan for him to get so big (about 90-95 lbs, solid!) and never trained him. He was kept in the yard unattended all of the time and eventually grew bored so he would dig out. They started chaining him up, some chains he would break (he is VERY strong!) and some would hold him. He is now blind in his left eye - one day while he was chained a stray dog came into the yard and attacked him, injuring his eye, ultimately causing him to go blind. Don't worry, this doesn't slow him down! His family loved him, but never dedicated the time or attention that he needed. He broke off of his chain this last time and attacked a neighborhood cat (so we are assuming a home with cats is off limits). The owners were forced to surrender him, or animal control wanted him put to sleep. He is now safe and living in an outdoor kennel at a shelter. He grew up around children, so he is kid friendly *however* he does have a lot of energy, so if you are afraid of him bumping into your child, this may not be the dog for you. He has always been an outdoor dog, so he may need crating if you leave him unattended in the house. He didn't have any potty accidents when he was in the indoor kennel when he first arrived at the shelter. He is fully vaccinated and neutered. He is currently located in Roswell, NM but can be transported for the right home. **A home check and adoption application are required.** UPDATE: Poncho has been neutered. Pancho will also have to be the only animal in the home. Pancho is a wonderful and sweet boy he absolutely loves people and kids.
