About Toby

We found Toby by our house, barking for help. He didn't have tags or a chip, and though we found him with a collar and leash, and despite our posting him absolutely everywhere, nobody has claimed him for over a month. Toby is completely blind. One eye is blind and the other was removed, showing he was cared for. His eye socket was surgically closed, and normal skin and fur has grown over it. This little guy is the sweetest, most loving doggie we've ever met, and we've had several dogs. He's gentle and quiet though he loves to play especially by getting you to bat at his feet as he tries to catch your hands or have a playful growling match with you as he rolls on his back asking you to rub his tummy. He's happiest when cuddling or laying on your lap and just loves to be held. He lays on the carpet or tile wherever we are or stays put on the couch--his second favorite place. He does well on a leash and without one in familiar surroundings. He minds well--has previously been taught to turn around at the command 'no' to avoid bumping into something that might hurt him. He enjoys adults and children even in large gatherings with different people picking him up and holding him. He is not a barker and does not shed. He is house trained unless you forget to take him out. He particularly loves the drying and combing parts of his baths. This little guy needs a forever home with someone who will let him sleep in their bedroom at night and is home much of the day and evenings.
