About Ellis

Lab mix
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

Ellis Male 10 weeks 10 lbs Lab/Terrier Mix Ellis came up from Tennessee the first weekend in October. He is a sharp looking pup with remarkable patches around his eyes. He is quite slim and most growth has been in height. In the beginning it was obvious he was a young pup without any training. In a short week it's been a pleasure to see him progress on his way to becoming a model houseguest. He is very smart and has learned a lot. He has mastered sitting for a treat. He joins two resident dogs in the foster home and he gets along well with both. There are no cats or small children in the foster home. At his young age he has sharp baby teeth and needs to have an good supply of chew toys available to satisfy the normal phase of teething. Yes, he will nip and bite the humans during this phase. He has the personality to become a great family dog but in the beginning will need to be watched around children as he gets nippy. He has become gentler in the mouth play and what once was an automatic bite sometimes is now an affectionate kiss. He keeps a dry sleep area at night and when let out often does almost all of his business outside. He gives no signal yet when he needs to go out so frequent trips outside will be necessary. Come meet handsome Ellis today! Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies. Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a 'teen' or adult dog. Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email [email protected] for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
