Meet Kona!! She was previously abused and starved. She needs an understanding owner to help her grow past her lack of confidence. **After meeting Kona I think she would be best in a home with an experienced dog owner. She is very loyal to her family but needs work to be trustable around strangers and other dogs. (She does well with avoiding interatcions with dogs and people on walks if you redirect her etc) Kona is a 1 year old female mastiff mix. She's only around 65 pounds. She is a gorgous dog. She is up to date on shots but will need to be fixed (this will be done prior to adoption) Kona is already potty trained. She's also crate trained and leash trained. It's recommended she wear a harness bc she's got Houdini like abilities with getting out of a collar if she's scared. She also enjoys car rides. She's great with her family. Once she gets to know you are 'her people' she's a wonderful dog and does great with kids. She's afraid of strangers and will bark when people come to the house. She would benefit from a family that will work with her slowly to build up get confidence level. Kona has never shown any food aggression. We tried a dog meet up with Kona and she didnt do very well. She appears to have a lot of anxiety and displaces that on dogs and people in stressful situations (not her family just others around). She's lived with another dog in the past but unless the adopter is a very experienced dog owner/trainer I would advise a dog free home for her. She is just a little over a year old and still has puppy like energy. She LOVES to play fetch. She also enjoys cuddling, belly rubs and sleeping in the bed. She knows basic commands like sit and stay. Kona would be a great family dog for someone willing to put some work into continuing her confidence building and socialization. She's been through so much and come so far. She really deserves a safe and stable home. Home and vet checks required.
