Sophie is a loving sweet female who has been abused in the past. She loves to snuggle and is really good on a leash. However, she is to be considered a 'special needs' dog, as quoted by a trainer who evaluated her. Her history: she was confiscated, from hunters who kept the dogs - all treeing walker coonhounds, emaciated and fighting over the dog food. She was 10 pounds lighter when she was taken. She has been a wonderful companion for me, but she is aggressive toward men. She grazes her teeth on their skin either at the knee or the arm, while she looks like she's smiling and getting to know you. This has been bred in her or she was taught to maim and not mangle the prey. I am 68 years old and my arthritis is keeping me sometimes from holding her back. I love her dearly and want to see her go to a family with a strong male who can control her better.
