About Angel

Angel was rescued over a year ago at a dumpster where she often went to find food on the back roads of rural Southeast Georgia. Fortunately Angel was rescued and her days of abuse and having to fend for herself are over. She broke free from her chains and the mistreatment she had endured. Angel has come a long way with the help of so many wonderful people that love her and have been involved with her care. Angel is about two years old and is very sweet, loving, affectionate and has a lot of personality. She is also very smart, happy, healthy, and eager to please. She is just an awesome, low maintenance dog! She loves people, children, and its fun to watch her chasing lizards. She has a tendency to be dog reactive which is understandable considering the neglectful background she came from. It's very likely that her abusive owner did not socialize her as a puppy and treated her unkindly. Angel would need to be the only dog or pet, which means more love and attention for her! She doesn't chew up objects and isn't destructive. She isn't a big barker and is house trained. Angel has been getting some training and has come a long way in a short amount of time. She has so much love to give and just wants to be loved. Following are comments from Angel's trainer, Ryan Chambers, who has been working on socializing her and accessing her behavior: 'Recently I was hired to train 'Angel'. She is a beautiful black with grey & white Lab/American PB Terrier breed. Angel is reactive to other dogs, a very common issue with rescue dogs who may not have had proper socialization at a young age. I taught her four basic obedience commands (sit, down, heel, and stay) that can be used to replace her initial reactivity to other dogs. Teaching a reactive dog to get along with other dogs takes some time and isn't always a guarantee that the dog will never be reactive. It can always be improved though. Angel is proof! From when we started to where we are now has dramatically improved. She is a lot calmer when we walk and she listens very well around distractions. She will be a great addition to almost any family that is looking for a smart, outgoing, and happy dog. I highly recommend her!'
