About Audrey

Doberman Pinscher / German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Audrey.... what can we say about Audrey that can tell you everything she is? There is not enough room here. But we can tell you a few things that tell you how strong her spirit is: Audrey was rescued from a shelter just four days from delivering a litter of 10 very healthy puppies! When we brought her to her foster home she was nearly a broken dog with an embedded collar, eye, skin and ear infections, and she was so starved bones protruded. It was hard to see her like that but we immediately started giving her all the groceries she needed. We have no idea how she ended up that way but we believe she had been chained up outside and that she has had way too many litters for her young three years. Today, with her 10 very happy puppies having reached eight weeks of age, Audrey is a very differen, non-broken, and healthy dog. She loves being in the house with her people, though she still loves the abillty to go on explores. She needs a little leash work but is quick to realize when she has upset you and quick to respond. Having been a starving dog it is apparent she had to be very resourceful and she will take the opportunity to grab something off a table or counter - again she is quick to respond with verbal correction - but you can't fault her for her ways. Audrey loves her crate in the house and will put herself in it on her own. She sleeps there through the night. She rides well in a car too. We don't believe we've seen her meet a person she did not like, young or old. Dogs are okay if introduced properly - right now it has to be away from her foster home where she just assumes all new dogs are there to get her puppies (what a good mama). Cats are a no-go though she may get used to them over time. If you are looking for a dog with an amazing spirit and great story of survival who will make a wonderful, gentle addition to your family, then Audrey may be the dog for you. Please read on or go to the Adoption Process page of our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org. All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - the link is found of the Adoption Process page. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live. Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.
