Buddy German Shepherd Dog Male 4 years 70 lbs Are you a German Shepherd aficionado and experienced dog handler? I might just be the perfect guy for you. Like most GSDs, I am intensely loyal, smart and eager to please you. I bond very deeply and am a one-person dog although I'm friendly with other humans in the house. I just love hanging out with my #1 person and am such a wonderful companion! I should not be with small humans though, only adults, because I have a nervous nature and can be defensive as a result. I'm also am a bit unsure with strangers and can be snappy at them if I'm not introduced slowly. Therefore, I'd do best in a quieter home without a ton of visitors and a human who can make sure to introduce me properly to new people. Once I build that trust, I am such a love! I am good with other dogs I meet on walks and hikes; however, I can be protective of my food and toys so I would do best being the only dog in the home. I already know several commands and have good house manners. I'm very affectionate with my person, playful, goofy and all around a great dog for someone who loves my breed and the characteristics that come with it. And one last thing! I, unfortunately, was found to be heartworm positive and have been treated for it over the past few months. Luckily I'm almost in the clear and the kind folks at PawsCo will cover the cost of my treatment until I am heartworm negative, but I will need an adopter who can ensure that I have limited activity during my treatment and can take me to my vet visits (in the Denver area) until I am cleared! Once I test negative, this won't be a continued issue (however, it is important for me to be on heartworm preventative long term.) I promise you that I am such a catch!
