Bodhi could be that dream come true guy for active retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. We feel that Bodhi would also do well with a younger family with dog-crazy older kids who enjoy the fun and companionship that a sweet dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Bodhi's family not because he doesn't enjoy young kids...he really does - but because as a smaller guy we want to make certain he's always handled gently and respectfully. Bodhi, at 12 lbs (the perfect portable size to go anywhere a great little dog is welcome) and 2.6 years old is the perfect age..old enough to be beyond babyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many active and healthy years ahead. Bodhi's new family must have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young rescue dog. He will require behavioral guidance and tons of love to nurture a positive attitude about the world. In return Gizmo will be a loyal and loving best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. When this adorable pup falls in love, he falls hard. He gives 100% of himself to his relationships with both his people and his canine companions. Bodhi may initially be a bit uncertain or frightened from his time spent at a dismal shelter...but give him just a second (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he is happy to come closer for a welcome hug. Before you know it, Bodhi has gently jumped into your lap to give and receive love. The Kansas rescuers recognized that Bodhi is a special dog and knew that there was a home out there that would fall in love with this wonderful guy and Bodhi would be a beloved addition to their family. As a Poodle/Havanese mix, Bodhi will have a gorgeous non-shedding coat that is considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic available today, Once Bodhi is given the gift of great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement is excellent for longevity and hair care ), his coat will become the cottony-soft hair that speaks of good health. With a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition, Bodhi's coat will return to the stunning one that is natural to his breed mix. Bodhi would do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a neighborhood walk, a visit with friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Bodhi's great temperament. Farfel's isn't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home. Retirees or a younger family that works at home or part-time would be preferred to provide Bodhi with the time and attention that a sensitive dog yearns for.
