About Gizmo-ADOPTION PENDING

Shih Tzu
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Gizmo is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with the stunning golden streaks that run through his soft as cotton coat. Gizmo has the cutest face ever with dark eyes filled with so much wisdom...you just want to hug this little cutie-pie close. When Gizmo arrived at the facility, shelter personnel agreed that he was one of the most matted dogs they had seen this year. They marvelled at his great temperament as his huge matts were removed during his grooming and then his skin was soothed with a sudsy bath. At 18 months old and 16 lbs (perfect lap dog size), Gizmo is a great size and weight to accompany his family just about everywhere a well-behaved smaller dog is welcome. A neighborhood walk or hike along mountain trails would speak to this little guy's social nature and love of the outdoors. We feel like we're clear on what happened to Gizmo's leg...this poor sweet pup was tethered in a yard with no food or water within reach and his foot caught in a rope. He chewed his foot off to get to the lifesaving water. It's a very sad story...but Gizmo is anything but depressed. He's a very happy (once comfortable in his surroundings) and silly young guy who has no idea that he's a tripod. He runs and plays with the best of them...never to be held back and with no frustration. He's acclimated so well that his rescuer had no idea and was informed by his groomer who had the realization as she was cutting Gizmo's matts away. Gizmo is every bit the young pup...fun and active. At the same time, he is a happy and well-behaved pup (once comfortable in his environment). It's natural for this little guy to express himself with a wagging tail and excited kisses of love. His joy knows no end and his love is all about his people. At this early point in Gizmo's development, he loves virtually everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Gizmo to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We feel that Gizmo would be most comfortable with an adult family or one with older kids 12+ where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. We also understand that Gizmo will be happiest and most fulfilled with retirees, a family that spends lots of time at home or those that can take a smaller guy along to a pet-friendly workplace. He will thrive on the time and attention that this lifestyle brings. Gizmo's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young rescue dog. He will require behavioral guidance and tons of love to nurture a positive attitude about the world. In return Gizmo will be a loyal and loving best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. When this adorable pup falls in love, he falls hard. He gives 100% of himself to his relationships with both his people and his canine companions. Gizmo will be up to date on his vetting. We're hoping that he will be neutered when he arrives from Kansas, however there are too many dogs and too few vets in this industrial area of the state. If Gizmo doesn't get neutered, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for him to be fixed and microchipped at one of our rescue vets to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Gizmo will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 10/16/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application form completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Gizmo please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
