About Annie

Australian Cattle Dog / Border Collie
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

Whenever a sweet and engaging herding mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are engaging, super-smart and make excellent family companions. They are a great fit for most active households and are extremely loyal companions for most age groups as well as other dogs. Annie is one of these cuddly, kind and very sweet herding dogs. The New Mexico vets believe Annie to be a 4 month old, 15 lb (anticipated full-grown weight of approximately 35 lbs) Border Collie mixed with Australian Cattle Dog (this assessment was based on body structure, markings and personality). Once comfortable in her surroundings, Annie is SO smart and a playful and very silly/entertaining girl..very true to typical Border Collie and Aussie traits. Annie is so puppyish in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. As you can see in her photo (very sorry that the photo quality is so poor. We've requested clear, updated photos and will post upon receipt), Annie was very worried in the scary shelter (who wouldn't be?), but once she was removed from the overwhelming noise and the harsh environment of a high kill shelter and in the care of a foster ..she started to heal. And soon, Annie's face began to lose the worried look she wore while waiting for rescue. Her love of life has started to return and a waggy tail and a kiss shows her devotion to her new foster. Most rescue dogs are initially a bit shy (rehoming can be confusing and a bit overwhelming). Once they're responsibly placed in a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. they will begin to shine. Annie is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a loyal best friend (this breed mix is known for their loyalty!) and the greatest snuggler ever. We're searching for a family that spends lots of time at home...or loves to take a very sweet dog along with them. Dog-loving and active retirees would be perfect. Annie would be a very loving best friend...overjoyed with the time spent together and the loving attention she would receive. A younger family that works from home would be great as well. Annie would be overjoyed to have older kids to play with in the yard and to hike alongside of on the trails of Colorado mountains. Border Collies as well as Aussies are famous for their sharp intelligence! They use their intellect when they engage with their families and participate in training classes.. and in activities like agility and herding. It's for this reason that we feel strongly that Annie should attend positive reinforcement training classes. She'll be a star (which builds high self-esteem) while bonding with her family and learning the skills (in a positive way) to become a well-behaved adult dog that can accompany her family out in the world with great behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Annie has the potential for a beautiful coat with shades of black and the whitest of white running through it. Her coat looks shelter-tired right now. With a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition, Annie's hair will return to the classic beauty of the herding dog breeds. We've requested that Annie be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Annie's spay and microchip after her arrival if our rescue vets is used. Annie will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 10/20/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and very devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Annie. please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving girl. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue. **2nd NOTE** Farfel's isn't a shelter. We make a commitment to every dog that we rescue that they'll never be in a facility again. Toward this end, every dog that joins Farfel's Rescue either gets adopted prior to their arrival in Colorado by pre approved families (who have submitted applications) or has a foster home waiting for them. While we'd love to see you, please don't come to Farfel's expecting to meet dogs. All Meet & Greets are set up by appointment.
